They say you can tell first time mothers by how they prepare for their baby. As a first time mum, you probably have a lot of shopping done by the end of your first trimester as your anxiously waiting for the arrival of your baby. It was the same case for me.
This time round, only a few weeks to delivery and I am starting to question if I have everything else I need for the coming baby. I have kind of been lazy with this baby mostly because I’m banking on the fact that I have most of the things I need from when my daughter was younger and also because I have items from my baby store. All in all, I am a planner and even though I have been pushing it till last minute, I have to get the things done before it is too late.
The main advantage of your second pregnancy is that you save a ton of money since you already bought most of the things you need for the first baby. I also took advantage of the black Friday sales, bought stacks of diapers and thanks to my baby shower, I also received many gifts for the baby.
The last thing usually left to do after the shopping is packing the hospital bag awaiting child birth. It is important to have your bag ready at least three weeks before your EDD (estimated delivery date) and just keep it in a corner somewhere. This time I know the things I missed from my first delivery so I am fully equipped.
Here are the things I am taking with me to hospital:
– Maternity pants
– Outfits for mommy and baby
– NHIF card
– Hospital Documents – I took advantage of the package in Aga Khan and need proof, this is so my husband doesn’t have to run back and forth.
– Mommy-change of clothes after leaving hospital
– Lidocaine spray or witch hazel pads (to relieve pain from tearing).
– Diapers-hospital charges for everything, therefore this will help cut costs
– Macintosh for mommy, yes, they charge this in the hospital and I still have some that remained after my first birth
– Birth wish list-here I have listed all that I want during delivery for my husband to keep.
– Relaxing music
– Water and snacks for energy during labor
– Toiletries
– My husband’s change of clothes and a blanket
– Hand massage machine/Tennis balls can do the trick as well
– Nursing bras
